During the Sagittarius season, all the zodiac natives are pushed to their limits, thanks to the influence of Jupiter. We would be taken out of our comfort zone and asked to explore new avenues. This would be a better time to take risks as luck and fortune befall for us during this season. Though there might be some falls, you can get up and keep going. It is quite an adventurous season to look forward to.
During this season universal concern takes precedence over individual desires. We would become more philosophical much like the Sages. This would be the time when winter sets in and we would be through some of the darkest days of the year too.
Who loves the dim, religious light? Who always keeps a star in sight??
An optimist, both gay and bright??? It is the Sagittarius!!!
Sagittarius is one of the constellations of the zodiac and belongs to the 88 modern constellations. It was first described by Ptolemy. This constellation is in the Northern hemisphere and lies between Scorpio in the East and Capricorn in the West. It is at about 19 hours right ascension and 25 degrees south declination.
The bright stars in this constellation are Kaus Media, Kaus Australis, Ascella which form an asterism famously called as the teapot because they form such a shape. The brightest star among them all is Kaus Australis.
The symbol of Sagittarius is the Archer which is said to be the Centaur in Greek mythology. It is said that there was a great hunter by name Chiron and his friend was Hercules. During a hunting session, Chiron was hurt by a poisonous arrow accidentally by Hercules. It is said that in remembrance of this event, Zeus placed Chiron among the stars and gifted him his bow and arrows.
The Centaur is half man and half horse, said to be an anthological creature from the past. It is said that though he aims for the skies with his bow and arrows , he is rooted to the ground. In a way it represents the Sagittarian natives of being grounded despite growing to lofty heights.
The glyph of Sagittarius is the arrow. It has an oblique arrow pointing upwards. This is cut by a curved line that represents the bow. The glyph indicates the tendency of Sagittarius nature to advance always towards an upper purpose.
The Age of Sagittarius was approximately 22,500 – 20,000 BCE. This was called as the Upper Paleolithic Period when advanced flint tools were being made. Also artefacts related to ornamental beads and bone pins have been excavated from this period.
This was the period of the European Renaissance. It was the Golden age in China, the Aztec culture flourished in Mexico and the Incas developed in Peru. It was also a time of great discoveries. Columbus discovered the New World and Navigators from across the globe set out on voyages in search of new land and opportunities.

The ancient Babylonians identified the zodiac Sagittarius as an Archer mounted on a horse around the 11th century BCE. They reverred this Centaur like animal as the God Nergial or Nergal. The Babylonians depicted the Sagittarian Centaur as a creature having wings, two heads, one human and another that of a panther, having a horse tail and a Scorpion sting behind the tails.
The Sumerians named it Pabisag and considered it as their forefather or ancestor.
In Greek mythology, Sagittarius is identified as a centaur: half human, half horse. It was called Chiron who was considered to be a great hunter. During a hunting session, he was killed by a poisonous arrow and Zeus in remembrance of him placed him among the stars in the constellation of Sagittarius. It is said that the arrow he aims points towards the star Antares, the brightest one in Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is also associated with the mythological figure of Bellerophon, from the Greek myth of Pegasus.
The Sagittarians are fickle minded people and it is very difficult for them to remain constant in love.Sagittarius are not steady for they keep moving in and out of love like a Yo-Yo, sometimes with the same person. To be trapped in an unhappy relationship or marriage is unendurable for a Sagittarian. But even a small difficulty they get back to their original partners either immediately or little later, months or years later as if nothing had happened, and a few are gone for a good.
Their nature is when separated from the partners get remorseful and it does not mean that in the absence of the relationship it is grown thicker. Even if they get back with good intentions they soon feel the same way of getting trapped and recycling starts if the other partner let it go. But however a Sagittarian who is in true love is considered to be an excellent person full of fun loving, warm, generous and affectionate.
